Frequently asked questions

How Furizzma works, for families looking for a new friend and for the people listing pets. Looking for a pet soon? Our safety tips explain how to spot a scam and pay safely.

Getting started

What is Furizzma?

A place to find a new friend. Shelters, rescues, owners rehoming a pet and breeders across the US list their pets, and families search, save favorites and message them, all in one place.

What pets can I find here?

Dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, chinchillas, degus, gerbils, hamsters, hedgehogs, mice, rats and sugar gliders. The breeds page lists every breed with pets looking for a home right now.

Is Furizzma free?

Yes. Searching, saving favorites and messaging sellers are free, and so is listing a pet.

Do I need an account?

Not to look around. You need a free account to save favorites, message a seller or list a pet. You choose whether you're finding a pet or listing one when you sign up and can start listing later in Settings. A listing account keeps its type: if yours is wrong, write to support@furizzma.com.

Finding a pet

How do I find a pet near me?

Search by pet, breed and location, then choose how far you'd travel, from 25 to 250 miles. Filters for sex, age, price and delivery narrow it down.

How do I contact a seller?

Sign in, then press Message seller on the pet's page, or Message on the seller's page. Your conversations are all in Messages, and a red count on the chat icon at the top of the page shows new replies.

Keep the conversation here rather than moving to text or email: there's a record of what was said, and you can report a message that seems wrong.

Can I send photos in a message?

Yes, up to 4 at a time: JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF, up to 10 MB each.

What happens when I save a favorite?

Tap the heart on a pet's page to save it. Your favorites are behind the heart at the top of the page, and if the seller lowers the price or the pet finds a home, we'll email you.

Can a pet be shipped to me?

Some sellers ship. Each listing says whether its seller offers pickup, shipping or visits on site. Whichever it is, see the pet in person or on a live video call before you pay.

Can I keep any of these pets where I live?

Not everywhere. Some states and cities restrict or ban pets like ferrets, hedgehogs and sugar gliders, or require a permit. Check your local rules before you bring one home.

Listing a pet

How do I list a pet?

Sign up as a seller, or switch your account type in Settings. Add your seller profile, then go to My Listings and choose New Listing.

How many photos can I add?

Up to 10 per listing, as JPG or PNG files up to 10 MB each.

Where do questions about my pets go?

To Messages. Questions about a pet are grouped under its listing, so you can see everyone who's interested in it.

How do I mark a pet as sold?

Edit the listing and set its status to Sold. Anyone who saved it to their favorites gets an email. To take a listing down for a while, set it to Inactive instead.

How long does a listing stay up?

Until you mark it sold, set it to Inactive or archive it. Listings don't expire. Archiving takes a pet off the site and keeps its messages, and you can restore it from the Archived tab in My Listings.

What do the license badges mean?

A breeder who holds a USDA or state license ticks it on their profile with its number, which shows on their page for families to look up. We look it up too, and once we've found it, their page says USDA licensed or State licensed. Most small breeders don't need a license: licensing for breeders says who does.

Safety

Does Furizzma check sellers?

Shelters and rescues, yes: we check each one's nonprofit EIN or license by hand before its pets show, and it gets a verified badge. Owners and breeders, no: we don't check them before they post, and a breeder's license badge shows what they told us, not something we've checked.

Every new listing and message is read by an AI looking for the signs of a scam, and a listing that looks like one comes down until a person checks it. It catches a lot, not everything.

Our safety tips explain how to check a seller yourself.

Can I pay through Furizzma?

No. You pay the seller directly, and Furizzma never handles payments or holds deposits. Anyone offering "Furizzma payment protection" or escrow is running a scam.

Pay in a way you can dispute, like a credit card. Wire transfers, gift cards, crypto and payment apps are as final as cash.

How do I report a listing, a seller or a message?

Press Report, the flag button, on the pet's page, on the seller's page or in the conversation. Choose a reason, like spam or a suspected scam, and we'll take a look.

Our community standards say what isn't allowed.

I think I've been scammed. What should I do?

Stop sending money and report the seller here. Then call your bank or card company right away: they may be able to stop or reverse the payment. You can also report it to:

Your account

How do I log in?

Enter your email on the log in page and we'll send you a link that logs you in. If you'd rather use a password, set one in Settings.

Can I switch between finding a pet and listing one?

Yes. Change your account type in Settings. Switching to listing asks for your seller details first.

What can sellers see about me?

When you message a seller, they can see your profile: your name, your city and state, and your photo and a few words about yourself if you added them.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings and choose Delete account at the bottom. It deletes your profile, any listings, your favorites and your conversations, and it can't be undone.
